well I finally did it. I found a Civil War Relic in an Upstate NY Park...
I was completely shocked when I pulled this beauty from the ground. It is in excellent shape with almost full guilt still on it.
B2260...Federal infantry button, eagle with "I", "SCHUYLER H & G / N YORK." dm, two part convex hat or sleeve size, (16mm)
Button depicts eagle facing right with "I" in the shield, generally for infantry officers. Backmark: "SCHUYLER H & G / N YORK." dm inner ring of dots partly obscured by shank well. Scovill produced ca 1860, for small buttons only, (Schuyler.230.Small). Two part convex button, hat or sleeve size.
These go for about $15 on eBay in this condition.

Next popped out a 1899 barber Quarter in not too bad condition... A little worn, but a keeper.

The funny thing is I dug plenty of pennies today, but NONE was a Wheatie...Hmmm.

man talk about great shape on that Eagle I button!!, awesome job!

That I is very appealing to the eye 8-)

Congrats on the super button find and that Barber. :occasion14: It's not to hard for me to imagine that you'd find one. The surviving civil war vets eventually went home after the war.

Wow nice button still looking for my first civil war relic in upstate I know they trained in our local park but still nothing congratulations

Good grief - what kind of soil protects a button like THAT?! Wow. Congrats!

Awesome finds ! :icon_thumleft:

My first 3-ringer came from Hudson Falls, NY. You never know where that stuff will turn up. Very nice Infantry button.

One of the best condition dug eagle buttons I've seen. Nice Barber also :icon_thumright:

Wow, your button is in awesome condition .Looks like one that might have been found in someones attic.

I've pulled several civil war buttons out of upstate ny along with civil war tokens but NONE of them came out looking near that good! Congrats:icon_thumright:

Ulster County CW finds last year--I, GS, GS cuff, plus "Flag or our nation--- shoot him on the spot" token and Conn. Militia officer's Scovill button. no upstate battles but we did have training, parties, and funerals
