Relic Hunting
I met up with the Good ole boys Saturday high atop "Rocky Top" That's Tennessee for those who were wondering :laughing7: Guy Lambert, and Randy Schuh of TN. accompanied me on yet another great gathering. Sometimes we don't find too much, but our friendship out weighs the finds, and we have some fun hunts together. I fired up the Minelab GPX with the 15x12 Commander coil as a test to see what we were possibly missing with our other machines we have used there in the past. Once again, I think the GPX made believers out of us. Unlike the mineralized Northern Va. soil we battle, this soil in the forest is mostly neutral. The GPX got some crazy depth and handled better than expected with moderate trash targets mixed in. I really like the fashioned poker chip and 2 Grape shots. Thanks again to my Rocky Top buddies for having me out.

Thanks for looking

Nice lead and buttons. Looks like a nice fun hunt!

That GPX is like hunting untouched sites again. We have hunted all around where you found those bullets with several machines and your machine sniffed them out. Boy I wish Santa would bring me one this year, lol. Besides "Your Crazy" my wife had a few other choice words that I can't print about my wish list. I can't wait to get back in field after the holidays. After a phone call yesterday we have a green light on the other campsite so I am really excited to see what you find there.

Those are some nice relics. Was wondering on your depth. I use a Minelab Safari and am hitting targets pretty deep myself. Last time I was out I was picking up iron nails(really small ones) at a colonial site at about 16 inches. I only have the stock coil(12 inch double D) and I think I'm missing shallower signals(3 inches or less). You are probably gonna say that I need a smaller coil, but was wondering if you have the same problem.

VERY cool to say the least. As a recent immigrant to Limestone TN from New Hampshire one of my hopes is to locate some Civil War relics and this is great motivation. Not alot of Civil War sites in NH (none).

Nice variety of finds there Mike. GPX is definitely getting it done.

Give me a shout, and we will meet up sometime! Don't forget the "Relic Rescue" Civil War Hunts hunt this spring! The GPX works very well at these events where crowds are moderate.

That poker chip is awesome! Of course the rest of the finds are tops too, but really like the poker chip. Still on my wish list. Good that you all could get together for hunting.

Merry Christmas!
Nana :hello:
