I recently dug this @ a cabin site in Ohio. There is no marks but ring is silver and shield is gold. This site had several Infantry and General service coat buttons along with 2 store cards. This is hundreds of miles from any battlefields but i often find coat buttons and have been lucky enough to find 3 plates also. Can i get opinions on what this ring is and if you have seen any examples?

That's really an incredible find! That would make my year. I hope you get some feedback on the shield and age.

Post it again in the What Is It or Today's Finds for more exposure.

NICE FIND let me also welc9me you to a fine forum . I am near Carrollton Ohio where are you near ?

Thanks Gene Mean.I am from Van Wert County Gare

Any updates on it ?

No but I'm going to take it to a museum in next couple weeks.Hopefully get some opinions there.

Wonder if it was cut to get it off a finger?

nope. soldered joint gets brittle and gives out. See it all the time, often when you handle it a bit or try to round the shank.

Very cool find! Congrats :icon_thumleft:
