I went out for the weekend to a heavily hunted park and courthouse with my new CTX 3030.
I had practiced with the machine at nearby parks to get used to the settings.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a fair amount of old coins. Hunting had been slow with the SE pro.
I found a 1900 Indian head, 1911 Barber dime, and a 1918 wheat penny.
The highlight of the trip was finding a seated quarter, 60s Indian and my second civil war token.
Any recommendations on cleaning it? I usually use a toothbrush and water.
Thanks for looking.

warm soapy water and a light brushing with ya toothbrush........works for me.....HH:hello2:

Great finds! I've had some success soaking coins in a mixture of warm water and hydrogen peroxide. But not for too long... my friend toasted a 1723 Wood’s Hibernia copper because he soaked it one too many times and for too long (not that it was in fantastic shape to begin with).

Awesome finds with your new machine, just might have to save up for one of those.:icon_thumleft:

Alright, thanks. I'll try peroxide on an Indian and a wheat first. I think the token is an R9 variety. Not sure though. I'd need an expert for that one.

Very nice digs ya got there.Be easy on the cleaning, the trick to cleaning properly is to do it litely and not make it look like it was cleaned.Does that make sense?............................:dontknow:

Great stuff! The CTX really is an amazing machine.

Yeah that's what I aim for.

It has opened new opportunities to rehunt places that's had success years ago.

This is a pretty extensive article on different methods of coin cleaning... Cleaning Coins

Excellent finds! :notworthy:

The civil war token is from New Paris, Indiana.

IN710a-2a R-9

There is between 2 and 4 of those tokens in existence.
