Made £14.72 ($30) in 3.5 hours. Nearly minimum wage.

Spoke to two kids & their parents today. I let one little girl have a go. First signal was a 1p & second was a 10p. She kept them & was very happy. As they wandered away I heard her say to Mum "Can I be one of those when I'm older", mum replied "of course you can".
On the down side, I had my first grumpy old lady comment "I don't think the council will be very pleased". This was after her yappie little dog had been barking at my machine.

1912 Penny
1920 Halfpenny (first dig)
1942 Threepence

A cool WWI capbadge with the slider. Best of its type for my collection :)

Whilst washing my hand in the river I noticed the Pike float. These are not that cheap & will be useful when I fish.

The old 10 pences (not spendable) are useful for my old fruit machine.

Another enjoyable day. Still have tons of park to do & no competition.

Welcome to the forum.

I have about 70 different types & over 100 all together (several repeats).

Most of the ones I find are WWI, I think this one is too. The reason being is that they trained in a field not far from the park.

As to how many regiments (& therefore no. of capbadges) were in WWI, I have no idea. I would guess over 300??

"M'am, I'm searching for land mines and if I were you, I tell your dog to sit very, very still... "

Nice digs; quite a varied bunch of finds especially for a park. No competition? You are blessed :)

Merry Christmas!

Joe

Cool... That's the first British turf/park hunt post I've seen... Very cool. Do you find a large quantity of older coins (turn of the century)?

And that's got to be nice to have an abundance of large denomination coins, enough to make it worthwhile to pull clad out. I think I'd dig every 1 pound coin I could ($2 a pop=nice)... Do you find very many in a single hunt?

This hunt I had 13 £1 coins nearly as many as the 1pences.

If you look at my last post I found a V rare 1690 coin in this park :)

Nice hunt Crusader! But what will the council say? ;D Looks like you had some fun. HH, Mike

Geez Crusader, even your parks there have the cool finds. Congrats to you.
By the way, I work with a guy from England and he was telling me about some of the food names over there:
Mushy peas , Marmite, Toad in a hole, pickled onions, fagot and balls (I don't want to know ;) ) , Ice lollies, etc.
He brought in some Marmite and crackers. A bit strong, but not too bad.
Cheers,
MM
P.S. I'll look into that Cortes in 08'. Thanks.

"I don't think the council will be very pleased" lol i crack up when some one says some thing silly like that but they still let horses dig up the land nice coins and i like the little key

looks like a good day congrats and have a good boxing day cheers

Wow, nice bunch of stuff. $30 is a great total too. Wish we had some larger denomination coins around here. Great assortment of finds; keep up the great work. Happy holidays! I can't even imagine how it feels to find stuff that old! Congrats.
