I found pieces like that, then I found a more complete piece that had the brass clock back still attached it had pat date of 1876.... Thats my guess on the date...

I have a couple I found like that as well mine had the a company name and date mine was 1875 and was from a coo coo clock. I unfortunately messed mine up and cleaned it improperly.

I believe it’s Part of an electrical transformer from an old t.v. Set or radio. Someone stripped the copper from it and sold it for scrap. The piece left over had no value so it was just trashed or burned.
