I got this old trombone in a 'free pile' in front of somebodies house 2 years ago . It didn't have a mouth piece so I just stuck it in a closet ...I was looking in one of my junk draws the other day and I found a mouth piece ( I had always thought it was part of a broken candlestick ) I put it together and blew ..... it was clogged . Look down the bell end with a flashlight and saw a nickel . I tried tapping it sideways with a coat hanger - no luck . so I went in the other end with an electrical snake and out popped 2 nickles ! a 1946 and a 1943 P .
The spit valve end was slightly crushed , so I reshaped it and re-soldered it with my plumber's torch ...... been playin ever since .
