Dug this coat sized smashed flat two-piece button today in a homesite in central Virginia, that has produced many Civil War artifacts. I suspect it may have been used as a poker chip. Its about the size of a quarter, but really has been hammered flat. Cannot really make out the design, other than the outward rays on the outer rim. I saw nothing like it in either Albert's or Tice's books. I suspect it is just a civilian button, but figured I would post it here in case anyone has seen something similar.

What does the back look like. Can you post a pic of the back?
Its plain, no backmark, shank is missing. I already dropped it into a jar with several hundred other civilian buttons, so I will have to dig to find it again to photo the back, but seriously, nothing identifiable.
