A low-cost and effective way to reduce EMI & RFI electronic interference noise into your detector from external sources.
In most cases, allows you run higher gain or sensitivity on most detectors while reducing noise or chatter associated with running high gain settings.
I have several in the garage somewhere and never thought to slap one on.

Anyone try this?

I don't know... :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Those used to come with all the high end electronics we installed. Sometimes I clipped them on and other I pitched them. I could have filled a couple of 5 gallon buckets with them. If you have one give it a try. Companies spent a load of money on them for sure. I never had a chance to do a before and after test.

Anybody have an update on this one, how do these little buggers work?

It's a ferrite that clamps on to the outside of the cable. Mostly used to reduce the amount of EMI a device radiates, so that it passes FCC emissions tests. On a coil cable, it could help a little, but probably not much.

Minelab uses them on all of the coils for the CTX 3030. And they were also used on some of their coils for the GP series machines.
