Welcome to treasurenet !!
With a diameter of two inches, I'd say it's a commemorative coin/medallion.
Don.......

Thank you, I will start searching online for commemorative coins and medallions.

With the building and the Caduceus symbol... I’d guess a Korean War era medallion associated with the medical profession....Like a commemorative gift to a nurse or Doctor for their work.

Or I got no clue, take your pick.

I'd say the lettering and symbol in the top middle looks like Korean.

I'm pretty sure the building is a mosque. The other side appears to me to be communist symbolism... the hammer, anvil, gear/wheel, tongs, and even the caduceus (a symbol of commerce and negotiation) could symbolize the workers. I'm fascinated by this one and will keep digging.

Thank you all. I was trying to find the building on line, Chinese and Japanese buildings are mostly square and I want sure about the writing. I will definitely check for Korean buildings and coins

Possibly Japanese. The character at the top obverse means "prize" or "award".

Similar to this one:

From the National Goods Exhibition in Kyoto (1907).

I don't get the impression yours is that old... Still researching.

Nice work, DCMatt. Possibly Chinese too: from here (second symbol)

Could be. The Japanese kanji characters are derived from the Chinese. Some of them are identical and have the same meaning, even though the spoken languages are completely different.

In my research I saw many Japanese "award" medallions from expos and exhibitions. Most were pre-WWII. There were a few civilian/government awards for war effort work from WWII. I didn't see any listed as Chinese.

So I was wrong... the building is not a mosque.

The writing at the bottom says something like "State of Taipei" in something called (small) seal script. The building is the Control Yuan Building in Taipei:

I'm still trying to figure out what this medal is though. It's some kind of award from Taipei, but is it for civic contribution or athletic achievement or something else - I don't know (yet).
