Kim,your coin is a 4 heller from the German state of Hesse-Cassel.The monogram is WK under a crown.WK stands for Kingdom of Westphalia.I think Hesse-Cassel was a part of the kingdom of Westphalia.Back in those days the German empire consisted of about 1800 individual states.They became the German empire in 1871.Your coin is worth maybe $2.But finding such a piece lost by an immigrant...PRICELESS!

Thanks Junkdigger for identifying the coin. It makes sense that it is a German coin because the area in which it was found was primarily German immigrants.

Thanks Jeff for lightening up the pic's they look a lot better. I am a total ditz when it comes to a photo program.
