Coin ? Token ? Im lost *better pics added*

Found this near the site of an early 1800's Stagecoach stop. Is a little bigger round than a modern day penny, but is as heavy as a nickel. looks as if in the center is a 6 or a 5. to the side can make on the letters ?? D O N. The opposite side cant make out anything. Any help would be appreciated.
