Though there's not much for markings I don't think it's a ricochet ball.
seems too hemispherically perfect.. it measures .67" and weighs 13.5 grams. (207 grains)
I think that's 4 escudo/Reales regal weight.
Most finds from this site date 1750-1850. any thoughts on this one are appreciated. :hello:

I think, as the title suggests, that he thinks its a coin weight. I think its just a crude homemade weight for general purpose.

It could possibly be some type of a gaming weight, the bottom is nice and flat like a gaming piece.

True, it might also be a crude poker chip.:dontknow: There are just too many possibilities to be sure, lots of people could easily melt lead for whatever reason they liked.

Maybe a die for striking reals, whats it made of?

Thanks all. When items like this come up I always weigh them. Odds of matching so closely seemed remote, also an odd denomination. maybe one weight from a set, or one of the possibilities suggested.
I just weighed a .68 ball, 26.8 grams, about twice that of this piece, hmmm.
Of course I'd prefer the coin over the weight :laughing7:

Lead or mostly lead, so not a likely ID. I've had many cfts analyzed for content, generally the older the item, the greater the number of elements in any given alloy.

It isn't gold (escudo) nor does it appear to be a coin due to its thickness.
Don........
I can understand the misunderstanding, many whatsit posts about coins refer 'Coin Weight' Thanks, I appreciate your input.

Since the subject is lead, I'll ask if anyone has seen similar to this item?
