Coin with hole

[Nathan W]

First coin with hole all the way through. It's not very old 1962 but it's interesting as to how or why . Cool conversation starter

Nice!!! Congrats!!! Is that considered a hole in one😁

[Sandog]

Maybe one guy held it and another guy shot the hole though it. Looks punched rather than drilled.

Anyone with the last name Booth live near by?

[E-Trac-Ohio]

Good one !

[Gare]

I am thinking it was shot

Hole is too small for it to have been shot. Looks to me about the size of a 16 penny nail.

[oldmxrat]

Definitely more interesting than just a regular old penny!

[Trezurehunter]

Could have been a coin used on a wind chime of some sort. Sometimes people would tie them on to the center string to clank with the chimes or shells, if the original one broke.

Penny’s make great nail washers.

[Gare]

Do you think that hole in the coin was done by shooting it ?
