My neighbour found this necklace of coins hidden away in a secret drawyer of a jewlery box she bought
at a garage sale. She only paid a $1 for the box. She knows I'm a fanatic about coins. But I don't know foreign coins very well.
She only gave me the one pic. Can anyone ID the coins ages or value?

Thanks,
Fishstank

Good result :o

WOW, what a great find! Very interesting.

I hate to break it to you but they are most likely copy's. :icon_scratch: They sell these belts at festivals for belly dancers and stuff. :o I'm not sure if they make/made real ones or not. :dontknow:

Keep @ it and HH !! :D ;D

Hi Fishtank, and a Happy New year to everyone on Tnet. I have just got back from my Xmas hols and logged on to get my fix. Boy have you guys been busy. Anyway back to your post, SS and shaun picked out the short cross and the Tudor coin among others so now it's my turn. The very top coin could be a silver maundy penny and about the 9th coin from the top looks like a James 2nd fourpence circa 1686-88 and there is another about 6 coins from the bottom. They look real to me but without seeing them in my hand as it were it's hard to tell although the wear on the coins looks authentic.
A very nice find :icon_thumleft:. At least 2 hours detecting for the likes of Cru and SS.

Good score ! I'm seeing a "Vickie " thruppence - upper right - I think - Argentium.

I'd like to believe they are real, especially since more than one has two holes in them and at least one has a blank side.
As mentioned above, spreading them out would be helpful.
Don...

Very cool find. :icon_thumright:

Look real to me. There is some islamic silver there, along with the british, french etc. People part with valuable things. Probably someone died and an unknowing relative sold them. I picked up some cheap Roman coins that way once. Good job, kane 23

One of them looks like a piece of eight.

Thats awesome!! Theres always good finds hidden out there, ya just gotta be at the right place at the right time, and it looks like you were!! good job! Definately some hammered coins in there!

Get 'em scoped out, but despite the probablity of them being cheapies, there is a chance that they could be real.

Thanks for all the input so far. I emailed the lady last night in hopes that she sends me
some better pic's. So hopefully I will receive some pic's today and let you know.

not worth much to the collector, after the idiot put holes in them all. Some nice hammered silver otherwise!

Extractor, pardon me, but is,” Saber," a dog, pig, cow, goat, or a combination? Interesting beast...

Fishtank, what a great find, my toast is in the air, even if they are counterfeit.
