Coins from early 9th century !

These three I found on a Viking site !

So called Kristiana Religio Denars from the reign of the carolingian emperor Ludovicus Pius (814 - 840).

On the one side the inscription says LVDOVVICVS IMP. (Emperor Ludovicus)
On the other XRISTIANA RELIGIO, meaning The Christian Religion.

The coins are made of silver !

The reason why they look a dirty, is because they are.
They are not cleaned, because the museum wants to clean the coins themselves.

Some of the usual stuf, small pieces of Arab dirhems and silver pieces and melting drops.
Some small weights of lead and one very small bronze weight.
No large finds like brooches this time.

That's what I thought.. great recoveries! You have to turn them in to the museum? or its by choice?

The law in our country says that we have to turn that kind of finds in to the National Museum in Copenhagen,
and I think that´s good so !
I get a finders fee, a taxfree amount compaired to the rarity and my treatment of the finds.
All finds that I make are messured in with GPS on location.
