Mike that coin looks like the reproductions they sell in Key West
 

It appears to be a 1756 8 Escudos. But unfortunately yours appears to be a reproduction. Hope it helps!

So, the 1771 date makes it a wrong, interesting.
 

That's helpful, I never knew that there is such a clear copy sign on the coins. Always thought it is more subtle ...
 

The word COPY on this replica doesn't even come up to the standard of the requirements of the Hobby Protection Act (1973) regarding placing the word COPY on replicas for sale-as coins.
