Coinstar has been hot lately and today it literally turned into a GOLD MINE

I have been recently finding a lot of silver at one particular Stop & Shop Coinstar that is close to my home, and today was the pinnacle of it all - I found a Swiss 20 Franc gold piece from 1922 (0.1867oz of gold). Never in my imagination did I ever think that I would find gold in a Coinstar, but as we have seen so many times on here, you never know. I do remember that someone here about a year or 2 ago found the 1926 gold sesquicentennial coin - which blew my mind as there were so few of them actually minted - so it does happen on occasion. These finds have made up for the slim pickings I have had CRHing lately (wonder if the recent move of silver to $100 a month or so ago either brought out more CRHers or people wised up and started looking through their coins before they rolled them and went to the bank.

In addition to the gold piece there were 2 silver quarters, 3FDR dimes, 1 merc, and a 1953 Canadian 80% silver. There was also $2.10 in Canadian clad, $2.65 from Barbados, 1.10 Swiss francs, 15 British pence (including two 1/2p coins), as well as some other foreign coins. The only US "clad" were 2 pennies.

On 3/7, I went to the same Stop & Shop and pulled this out of the Coinstar:

1 40% half, 4 90% silver quarters, 1 90% silver proof quarter (North Carolina 2001), 3 FDR, and 1 1951 KG VI 80% Canadian dime. There was also 55c in Canadian clad. Oddly enough, no US clad at all.

The next day (3/8), I went into the same Stop & Shop and found this:

another silver quarter, 1 nice merc from 1945 and 1 FDR dime. This time there was some US clad.

That would be a fantastic find.... if it's genuine. I would just caution that it's a highly targeted coin for (often high quality) replicas and fakes. The colour of yours doesn't look great, I have to say.

I sure hope it's the real deal, but could we please see a picture of the obverse at the same quality level as your reverse picture, a close up of the stars on the edge, and an exact weight if you are able to provide it?

That would be a fantastic find.... if it's genuine. I would just caution that it's a highly targeted coin for (often high quality) replicas and fakes. The colour of yours doesn't look great, I have to say.

I sure hope it's the real deal, but could we please see a picture of the obverse at the same quality level as your reverse picture, a close up of the stars on the edge, and an exact weight if you are able to provide it?

Getting the true color for gold with indoor lighting, and even cameras is a crap shoot.
I've taken pictures of gold, looked at the picture and it's nothing like what the gold looks like.
But the details in the picture is what we should be looking for.

Also, the coin is not magnetic for what that is worth
there are stars around the edge of the coin

Although the obverse doesn't exhibit any of the features detailed in the article linked by @pepperj for fakes, those are not the only distinguishers for non-authentic coins. This one pictured below doesn't have those features either, but it's not a fake as such in the sense of being intended to deceive.

It's a high quality gold-plated replica intended as a souvenir, or as a 'space-filler' for collectors and available on Etsy and elsewhere for about £20. However, what it does have is a flaw on Vreneli's neck below the ear, which is not on present on authentic examples.

There appears to be a die flaw in a similar area on your example. It's not in exactly the same position but abnormal raised dots or other defects in the neck area are known die characteristics for these kinds of replicas.

An exact weight will be the clincher for authenticity.
