Hey Gare, there are 14 in the cage. I gave 4 away last week to a couple nearby. They had 2 already & a big cage and wanted more. None talk, they are pretty wild but a couple will sit on my finger and seem tame.
These are not Parrots and do not talk, I don't think... I had one when I was a kid, it didn't talk. Back then I was asking the same question and basically got a no answer..

Hi. I never knew you had them there wild too. Beautiful little birds. We had one when I was a teen living at home. I remember when we'd let it out inside it would have a ball checking everything out. Especially Xmas time and the tree! It was my mothers and im sure it said a couple of words she taught it but I cant recall what as I was rarely home those days. I do remember she taught it to make a sort of kissing sound which when you did it the bird would do it back. Was a funny little thing.
The Parrakeets in Florida are not native but the result of pets getting loose or being released. They start multiplying and the conditions are suitable for them. Florida has a lot of different Parrots that have established flocks all over the state. We have Blue Headed Conures around here and they come to our feeders. Here is a picture of a couple of them.
They will some, just not as much as a parrot. My friend had one named Tater when we were growing up and he a say “pretty bird, pretty tater bird” and whistle.
They would probably be ok. The wild ones seem to make out fine. I usually cover them when it gets in the low 40's and is windy. I know being in the wind when it's cold makes it colder. 40's in Florida is cold!
When i was a kid MANY years back One of my dads friends had two of them parakeets that would say a few years.That was about 72 years back I was 6 years old. We moved to Kalamazoo Mi on my 7 th birthday
