Cold Sunday Diggins'

Hi all,

I guess I didn't get enough of a fix yesterday so I went out again today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. I drove to an old school I haven't been to before. Yesterday was 57 degrees, but today I was out in 22 degrees with a wind chill of 10. Not a bad day though, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and the ground was still soft.

I came back with 29 pennies (including a 1953 wheat), 4 nickels, 25 dimes and 22 quarters, for a grand total of $8.49. I also found a kid's ring, 2 Speedpark tokens, a Disney pendant and a neat religious coin that appears to be pretty old, if anyone has any info about it please let me know.

I had a great time and didn't want to leave, but my legs felt like lead and I was getting hungry. I'm going back to the school this spring..the field was huge and I didn't come close to covering all the ground.

Wow, you really had spring fever - or something like it. Only way I would have went out in that is if there was a great place and the last day to hunt it. ;D

Looks like you got a productive spot.

So looks like you scratched that itch pretty good huh? Looks like a good days finds for me.. Can't blame ya for going back again.. I know I would have...

Re: Cold Sunday Diggins'

Thanks you guys, it really wasn't bad out there, the sun helped quite a bit. I just dressed in several layers and wore a hat and gloves. The wind never cut through my clothes and I was able to keep pretty toasty despite the wind.

WTG on the haul Nat. You got some good variety there, clad, jewelry, token and old coin (Wheatie). I personally LOVE finding tokens.......and I am still lamenting what I did to one of my last. Congrats.

That's a nice haul Natman and you have a lot of ground to look forward to! - ziphius

Good job Nat. I still can't get my Lesche in the ground yet.

Thanks Ricardo..I have a large collection of tokens - parking, car wash, baseball, state and presidential, vacation spots, arcade, Chuck E Cheese, you name it. Most of them are found on school playgrounds..my display reads most of them as pennies..I dig pennies if they're easily retrievable (not too deep) and I get surprised many times by coming up with a token instead.

Thanks Bryce, the ground was super-soft over the weekend, but since then we had a little ice/snow mix and below freezing temps, so the ground's like rock now..what a difference a couple of days can make.

Thanks again you guys, it was a treat getting out after waiting almost a month for a chance to dig.

Re: Cold Sunday Diggins'

Nice finds Nat; just be glad that your 22 degrees wasn't accompanied by a foot of snow! Good amount of clad for so short a time too.
