Stumbled upon a house that saw heavy traffic in colonial times and also during the civil war. The two big pieces of pottery were pretty much on the surface under some leaves and the smaller piece was found during a dig and looks more like it was painted by hand

Right next to that I found what I think is a shoe buckle. I've attached pictures of the front and back but don't really know what else it would be. It's pretty lightweight.

Also found what I think is my first fired three ringer. It weighs about the same as a dropped one that I have and has a conical top.

I found the Washington but was hoping to find a coin a little older. The gentlemen said that this hadn't been detected in 10-15 years and I bet there's more there if he left a shallow silver quarter.

I don't think it's a shoe buckle. Are there two holes in the middle of the two long sides.

Cool finds... I bet there are more lurking there.

That's definitely not a shoe buckle. It's a die cut sheet brass sash buckle. Mid 19th century. I have found the exact same buckle. The lead does look like a fired minie ball.
