Just finished running my recently found axe through electrolysis, and it came out pretty nice. Even looks like there's evidence of 2 maker's marks although they're illegible.

While on the subject of axes, does anyone know of a really good reference book for ID'ing all the various types of colonial axes (like trade, hewing, polling, broad, etc)? I've never been able to come across one that fully suits my needs, and would like to add one to my library. Thanks!

Nice job Bill. Are you familiar with the works of Eric Sloane? His book, "A Museum of Early American Tools" is, though not comprehensive, a great resource.

You have the Neumann book?

That's a great result buddy. Really nice.

Simply spectacular.

That thing is amazing Bill and it looks ancient. That is such a cool style of axe head. I hope to pull some iron that old one day. Great job on the preservation.

Beautiful job! Put a handle on that today and it would still slice through wood.

Really nice job,,
When I get to Pennsylvania, I have to set up an Electrolysis Tank.

Well done Bill. Excellent restoration, it looks great.
