yeah! what Will said  never seen a non-silver bowl hallmarked like this :icon_scratch:

You are going to flip out a Pine Tree shilling in the future. I can seriously feel it in the Colonial air.

I don't think your spoon was made in the 1950s either. ;D You're into some very early stuff! Dig all those signals no matter how slight because you are most definitely in MA silver territory!

Could it be made of bronze or pewter Brian? :icon_scratch:
I've seen early high quality pewter spoons that were hallmarked. :icon_thumright:

Hallmarks is a term which covers items which are made of Gold & Silver. This looks to be a copper-alloy which is plated with what might be tin. These type are marks are makers marks which were not only to ID the manufacturer but to make the cheap immitation look more valuable than it actual is. They were following in the Pewter mark tradition.

PS. Excellent early buckle for the US :headbang:

Amazing. Great finds! :o

Thanks everyone. I have a few of those spoons and they all seem to have a mark. I believe they are copper alloy. I haven't had too much time to reply lately. Thanks again.....BrianW
