We dug at a place today that use to have an old settlers fort but we did not know exactly were it was. I think we have located it. We found tons of iron and a few good things.I found a side lock to a flintlock gun, a ball button, a eagle button and what we think is a roseate from maybe horse tack or maybe off of the gun. Not sure about that or the age of the buttons. I don't think the eagle is of that time period. It says extra quality on the back and is a high dome. Any help with those three items would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Nice flintlock gun piece, that is very old. It looks like you had a good day.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think "extra quality" meant it belonged to an officer? Nice find!

No, It just means that the gilt that was on the button was good quality. 50% of the buttons I find have "Extra Quality" on the back

Sounds like you're near the mark but not quite on it yet. Keep hunting and you'll be rewarded I'm sure.
