Ray Williams, President of the Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) will be giving his talk (show and tell) tonight at the Atlantic County Numismatic Society meeting. Ray gives a wonderful talk, explanation and slide show of the State Colonial coppers.

I plan on visiting the meeting tonight and will bring some of my state coppers along with me.

The meeting is from 7-9pm tonight Wednesday, November 5th. Location: Linwood Public Library 301 Davis Ave Linwood NJ

The meetings are open to the public and I just read on their website that it is free to join the organization if one wishes to.

So, if anyone is within a decent drive to Linwood NJ, I am sure Ray would not disappoint you with his presentation.

I just got back into town. It looks like something I would have liked to attend. I will keep my eyes open for the next event.

Thanks for the heads up, Don!

You both gotta come to the next meeting.. it was just great, I loved seeing the colonial coppers, the NJ ones were a treat for me to see.. Ray was just loaded with info and kept everyones interest for sure on his display of coins and all the info.. He saw three young boys there, that were just beginner collectors and dont ya know he gave each boy a neat looking coin.. I forget what it was but it made all three boys eyes huge as saucers..

Don, I enjoyed meeting you and thank you so very much for sharing some of your collection for me to see and actually hold.. I loved that love token, all the coppers that you found, all the reales you had amazed me and of course all the other silver coins too you had..

I found this meeting to be so enlightening and its enough to get your blood a going to wanna hit that dirt and find some serious stuff.. now alls I have to do is learn how to do the research right.. but I really learned a few good things too..

At the end, they held a small auction, it was neat actually..the one boy was thrilled to death, he got a bag full of 600 wheaties for 19.00.. he was just beaming over that one.. I am sure that will keep him busy for a long while too. I got a small bag of 7 or 8 Indian heads for 6.00, oldest one was 1866, so that was a little treat for me, but am not giving up on finding my first dirt fished Indian head either..

I am actually looking foward to the next meeting... Hope to meet some of you tneters there too.

Re: Colonial era State Coinage Talk (tonight Nov 5th)

Ray Williams gave a good show and tell presentation on State Colonials last night and as always, I learned a bit more about them than I had before. Ray is President of the C4 club (Colonial Coin Collectors Club) and he has been for several years going to clubs and organizations and spreading his knowledge of State Colonial coins.

I was again a bit surprised at the lack of knowledge by the vast majority of "coin collectors" that attended the club meeting last night. I hope they came away with a bit more information about our early coins and perhaps a few might even get into collecting colonials, which is good for the hobby and good for us who find them, the old supply and demand thingy. :)

Rae, is was great to meet you, I have met maybe a half dozen or so members of TNet over the years and enjoy sharing my knowledge and helping out when I can.

I do believe Ray Williams loved giving the young men the coins, in hopes of generating more interest amongst our youth to keep the hobby of coin collecting alive and well for years to come.

Thanks for the info!!!

Keep us all posted !

You're killing me! I wasn't aware of Ray's first presentation until after the fact and Feb. 16th is my wife's B-day. How the hell am I going to convince her I need to be there.....just killing me! :-\

Ray Williams will be speaking at the Historical Association of Woodbridge on Monday, April 27th. The group meets in the Woodbridge Main Library on the ground floor the third Monday of each month at 7:30pm.

I've seen Ray present his collection and talk once before and it is well worth the time so I hope you can make it.
