So yesterday afternoon was by far the best day of digging ive ever had. As I was leaving another site and to get out of the rain I decided to drive some south jersey back roads. I noticed a difference in a patch of forest so I stopped and prospected. Sttaight out of gate I was in a high iron patch and dug a flat button. Then the 12 43s started. First was a 1794 liberty cap quickly followed by a 1800 draped bust one cent. I lost track of which ones came after that but a total of 8 large coppers and one 1 reale was unearthed. Also dug were 7 or 8 flat buttons, buckle, iron relic and earlier in the day an 1903 barber dime. I attached a few after electrolysis pics . Sorry some pics are sideways. The total was 4 1800 draped ,1 1797 draped, 1 1798 draped, 2 1794 liberty cap. 1 one reale, and other relics and buttons. What a day!

You murdered it. What an incredible day. The kind of day detectorists dream about. 6 Draped busts and 2 liberty caps is just amazing. Thread title is misleading as you didn't find one colonial copper :)

Banner for sure. The condition of those LC's is just insane. They must have been protected in something for years. I'd scour every inch of that place!

Nice!

I consider any 1700's coins quite colonial indeed, regardless of what classification they are given in some (any) book.
I'd be back there straight away. I'd be thinking maybe there is a silver there with a 1794 (or'95) date on it.

Wow that just amazing day wondering what's still there

I think these finds are very underrated. All those old coppers and a reale on the same day. I'll keep pushing this towards the front until it gets justice. Should already be banner!

That is why I do this. I would be happy to find one of those that is a mini treasure!!!!!!!!!!!Good Job

What a super sweet day! Great condition too. Definitely worth a return trip. Thank you for sharing such excellent finds with us.

I'm on vacation, so I'm just getting to read this now... And what an incredible story. Awesome job...hope you continue the thread with some more great items from the site!!

DANG NICE FINDS THERE ....

That is a day a girl only dreams of

I especially like that head of 1794 because I need one for my LC collection, but the detail on the rims on those coppers are crazy. They were dropped not too long after minting I believe.

WOW, what a Great hunt. WOW. Most of us can only dream about an epic hunt like this. Huge Congratulations and Thanks for sharing.

Unbelievably fantastic hunt.
Those coppers are BEAUTIFUL. It's hard to find them in such good condition. You're usually lucky to even get a date.

Big congrats on that one. I'm sure this is a hunt you'll never forget....

Looks like he already hit them with electrolysis ???

Say it ain't so!! I was afraid of that after reading a little more closely. But, to each his own I guess. Still a great hunt.

Wow so awsome to see my copper coin thread still alive. Not sure why so many freaked out by electrolysis. I. Would have done these beautiful coins wrong by not stabilizing them. I let one go without and it completely oxidized to an unrecognizable mess. I do it properly and they look great. Its the same old digger vs coin collector argument. Nothing was said from NGC about improper cleaning. The head of the 93 lib cap is a sheldon 19a. I will cherish these coins in my collection for the rest of my life. I am more facinated by the person that droped them in the quite woods that they were dug in.
