I found this toy pistol in a colonial era site. It appears to be a miniature Snaphaunce. It is solid either copper or brass. It appears to be hollow through the barrel as if you could fire it. Could they back in 1600 to 1700 make such a small replica? Or is it a modern copy of what everyone would think of a pirate pistol. It is an accurate copy of the Snaphaunce pistol. I also found a Captain Jack minitiaure
45 later and displayed both of them in my house for years.

Can't remember too much back then but the guy I showed it to was Norm Flayderman, antiques firearm expert. If I remember he said it was exact replica of the Snaphaunce and probably could fire with a little powder in it. The fact that it was solid copper or brass surprised him and he said take it to colonial archaeologists. Which I had no time for.

I like it. Definitely not a modern reproduction. Even though it's patterned after an early style pistol, I think it may have been made later than suggested above.
