Going crazy from all the snow this winter and fighting cabin fever with my Fisher F75 in hand I took advantage of the 50 degree weather today and decided to hit the old colonial road I have been hunting and I wasn't disappointed. Within a few minutes my first swings produced a large button with the shank loop broken off and then I got a nice signal and dug down about 6-7 inches and out popped a 1723 halfpenny. Not a bad way to start out the 2014 detecting season.

Are your finds in the roadbed, itself, or beside it? I detected the main road leading to the east out of my county that had War Between the States activity. This road is through the woods and has been out of activity for sixty years....still just a dirt road that has big trees growing within it.That thing was eight feet deep, in places, and averaged around 15 to 20 feet wide. All kinds of stuff beside the road but only one or two things in the roadbed. Didn't find any CW stuff but all kinds of old mule shoes, horseshoes, real old car parts, cans, etc. Just curious if your finds were the same as mine.
