Colt Trigger Guard

Dug this Colt Model 1849 Pocket model trigger guard. Being a collector I love it. Brass with no sign of any rust from screws, so must have been disassembled before being lost. Can't help but wonder.

Someone was trying to fix something on it and couldn't. Just tossed it. Or they took it apart because of barrel, cylinder problem and were using it for parts. I collected SAA's for several years and sadly admit I did that once. Ruined the value of two guns...

Man, that piece is clean! I know its brass, but I still wonder if it didn't have a heavy coat of oil on it at the time it was lost. Congrats!
