Have any of you folks ever volunteered your MD services to the local LEOs'?
I've speculated that if I offered, it may open doors for MDing opportunities that may otherwise be off limits.
Just a thought.

Most brick & mortar clubs have given their business contact information to local police and sherrifs, to volunteer their services for things like evidence (bullets, weapons, etc...), and lost & found type services. Whether or not those LEO's take advantage of this volunteer offer, depends on the personell that those particular stations. I've heard of some who say "thank you, we'll call you if a circumstance comes up", but the never ever call that club or person. And I've heard of others who have gotten repeat calls.

I was a member of a club (which no longer exists), who had their contact info. in the rolodex of a local police dept. Accordingly, one day the club got a phone call, back in the mid 1970s, from that police department, that a frantic lady had come in to the police dept. to file a lost & found report for a ring she'd just lost on the beach. This was a millionaire tourist couple who had come to this resort beach town. The diamond ring was valued at something like $40k (In mid 1970s dollars!!). The police dept. who took this report, apparently remembered the club in their rolodex, so they called. The club sent out a posse of hobbyists to the beach, and found it. There was a 10% reward, so you can imagine a $4k reward (in mid 1970s dollars!!). So yes, it sometimes pays to volunteer your time, and get a business card passed out to LEO's who might call on you
