Complete Civil War Confederate Mullane Shell!

Hit a bucket lister yesterday! I’ve dug some fragments before but never a complete artillery shell. I believe it to be a Confederate Mullane shell. Very exciting day! Also found a few iron chunks in the area (if anyone has suggestions as to what they are, I am all ears).

Very Cool Dig!!! Sometimes called the "Tennessee sabot shell" that carried a wooden fuse plug that accepted a paper time fuse. Should clean up nice! Congrats on your first complete shell

Yes definitely not messing with it myself, have a professional shop lined up near Richmond that cleans and renders safe!

Thanks Tommy! Will definitely post an update when it’s cleaned up (I’m taking it to a shop to have it worked on on Saturday) keeping my fingers crossed for a good result.
