well i managed to get out for half an our scored an 1888 ih and this complete set of buttons, sorry bout the pic, i havent cleaned these or anything yet

did you find any bone with the buttons

no and these were only 3inches deep, why was there bone? or were you thinking someone was buried in this? the buttons were all within 6 inches so it had to be wadded up at one time the entire hole was just over a fool in diameter and the first button was only about an inch down

maybe a discarded coat or something?......sweet find Dan! Too cool, would love to find a whole group of military buttons like that WTG!
