This is my first post, so let's hope I get this right. Found this confederate manuscript I button this past Sunday. I've been working what I'm told, was a union trench line/camp in VA. Not sure what this was doing there. I can't find any info on any action very close by, but I'm definitely pleased!

Camp's were often used by both armies. Also you are digging in the south. Nice button
 

No. It's a blank back. It has a "floating" shank, for lack of a better word. I've read online its a British import. Does this sound right?
 

I think a British import would have a backmark. It maybe what they call a confederate local
