I was tearing out and replacing hardwood floor in old house in Williamsport Md. when I came across this button was able to keep it wlth owners permission it is a Connecticut Cuff button, I think it is an 1850's backmark, Agree or disagree? P.S. Iknow it is a Conn. button curious about age, also found quarter in camp of 13th Conn. Inf. near Williamsport.

Backmark is Scovills & Co. Extra

Nice finds Joe on the Connecticut button and the quarter.

"Scovills & Co." backmark was used from 1840-1850. So your button is a little earlier than you thought.

May have been a soldiers, given as souvenier or lost but it is Civil War Era right?

It could have been worn during the war or lost, traded, given as a present or whatever before the war. There is no way to know for sure since you found it out of context to any other war related items.

I found a Connecticut button down that way buddy. It was a coat size though.15269375282920.webp

From the house I found button I could at the time still see Connecticut camp. Maybe a half mile.
