Two disclaimers - It's always hard to tell from a picture, and this opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it - that definitely could be part of a broken 3/4 groove axe.

I agree with Twitch. It looks like a grooved axe to me as well. Nice find & a keeper!

Yes you do have an axe there 3/4 groove and it was a dandy at one time.

Looks like one, but pictures never ever do justice, u can take all u want it just won't turn out how u like, lol. I say video and repost if unsure, but looks good

Help me see the axe. Is it poll end? I can't see a bit. Then again, my full grooved is perfect (in my eyes, complete any way) and it isn't sharp. So bit may mean nothing.

the axe is broke, what he has is likely less than half the original length, he has the end with the groove- can't you see it ? the last pic. shows the thing snapped off right at the groove.

I see the groove and I think the poll is on it. I hate that it was broken. Thank you for pointing it out for me. Pics can be hard!

Yes, there are axes made of sandstone from time to time, but that axe is NOT sandstone.

Sorry just about all the axes ive seen from Pa. are made of sandstone. It's a fine grained sandstone and it very solid and durable. The axe in question looks to be sandstone to me.

Very well, then. My screen is showing more of a hardstone, but sandstone will work for me.
