Contact authors who publish history books of your area

I wanted to share an experience that might help you gather some old information about your areas...

I went to my local library and found a few books on the history of where I live.

I contacted some of those authors and they were more than happy to help me find old maps and information that were not published in their books.

You may want to try this in your area as it can cut down on a lot of research time.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Good idea; and I'll add to that:
While at the library, ask for the local Historian--or the County Historian. He/she, too, can add knowledge that may not be published or current.
