was hunting across from a boys school that started in 1856 and found this guy. sorry for the bad pic's
from the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, Colorado

Construction began June 5, 1929, on the Royal Gorge Bridge. The project needed a workforce and they got one in a hurry, men were willing to work seven days a week, 10-14 hours a day starting at 30 to 60 cents an hour.

I am going to take a better photo and send it to them to ask.

If at all possible, shoot the pics using natural light. The
fluorescent bulbs cause the yellowing. Here are your 3
pics with the colors corrected. Couldn't sharpen them
any, but they look a bit better.

I wonder if it wasn't like at mines where they put those on a board and if it is still hanging they knew that a miner is missing, You put on board when you started shift and removed when you finished the shift. The name of what I am referring to was a miners chit tag.Very cool piece of history you have found.:icon_thumleft:

Great pics that show a nice patina... I like it!

I love historic items like that. You can't put a price on objects that tell a story.

The pics are clearer. Nice find. What's the flip side of that? Anything to help with an ID?

royal gorge is most likely a sovenier from a tourist attraction, my guess aprox 1940s

Looks like a penny flattened by a train then stamped. Seems like in the 70's they had a machine that would do that. Cool find.

cool find. looks like maybe 1950's. went there a few years back, it's a cool place

Thanks for sharing...

When I first started working in the construction industry in '71, on large projects we would "Brass In", and "Brass Out" into a project. When I first looked at this thread and the pictures I thought it might be used for that. But with the clearer pictures, I see it is not - our "brass" was numbered = time keeping, accountability, etc ...

I believe it is a souvenir piece.

sovenier from a tourist attraction yes, not a flat penny and nothing on the back. I do like this and must have a story. I sent an email to the park asking about it and waiting to here back. I am headed back to look and when I first hunted this area i did not know about the boys school across the street. Need to go a little slower and dig more iffy sounds. also trying to get in next door and if I'm lucky I can get onto the school grounds.
Also found a copper drain plug a foot away. might have been the location of the old bath house?
