Hit a new site with my digging partner, Palmetto, that dates to the 1790s. This is one TRASHY site...hundreds of those aluminum pint whisky bottle screw caps...this place must have been party central! This place will produce more as we get more garbage out of the ground.

Here's some of the keepers minus all the garbage...the wax seal is silver, but is missing the matrix. The gold ring is marked 10K.

Wow....neat place ......love the old home sites. Keep us up on your finds.:icon_thumleft:

Drunken people = lost items. Continue to hunt it out! Maybe bring along a sifter.

Don't do this if you don't want to hassle with it, but could we get a pic of the "trash pile" next to the finds, it encourages me that I'm not the only one who ends up harvesting junk!:icon_scratch:

Oh, and which machine were you using?

Wonderful finds and I hope there are many more to come!

Everyone finds trash and anyone who says that they don't dig trash if full of it! No matter how good the machine, trash is going to be found becasue trash too closely mimics tones of good items. And then there are the days you are finding nothing and you try to make "something" out of "nothing".

Unless you are a detectorist, people don't realize how much "bad" stuff you find to find the "good" stuff. All your friends see is the "good" stuff and don't realize the work involved.

Happy Hunting

What were those coins?

The seal matrix is nice, I'm not sure I've had a silver example. It is a high status piece, although some really good ones are Gold.

I love that ring. Old homesites are awesome places to find great pieces. Great job.

Nice digs. Good to see you digging and posting again Greg. I hope all is well
