Hi, everyone, and thanks for having this forum!

About ten years ago, I bought the cheapest of the cheap, a Bounty Hunter Fast Tracker, and never really used it til a few months ago. Even though it's cheap, I'm having a real blast!

I've found a couple of interesting things lately, and wonder if any of you have any ideas on how to identify finds?

The first is a couple of tiny rocks (2 cm?). While digging, they emitted an alternating broken and high tone. I could see something shiny in one of the two, so I chiseled through the other and found what you see here on the inside. I've stacked them on top of each other to make easier to see inside. Also included a super-closeup from my DSLR. Non-magnetic. Anybody seen anything like this?

These others I found grouped together within a few feet of each other. Pretty deep (for my detector) - maybe 10 inches - and a very strong high tone. Non-magnetic. At first I thought maybe it was something man-made but now I'm not so sure. The largest of these is probably about three inches. I've cleaned them as best I can. (you can also see some of my other finds behind there - found my first dollar coin the same day as these!). So addicting!

Any ideas here?

Thanks in advance!

looks like melted lead or aluminum to me. if its heavy its lead, if is is light its from throwing cans into a fire.

The aluminum cans makes sense given where I found them. I've never seen them melt like that, though! Thanks for the input

I agree melted cans and melted lead.

The rocks look to be "slag" from a furnace or fire.

Thanks everyone - was hoping the larger rocks were something cool...but i suspected they were something manmade that was melted...

What about the small rocks? Those are still a puzzle to me...

Dougie, you might want to consider re-posting your question & pics here... Gold Prospecting or here... Rocks/Gems

In high school we had parties in the woods and threw our beer cans in the fire and they melted into clumps like that.
