1789 French 1/2 Sol?

From the size of the thumb I would guess the coin to be around 30mm, close to the size of the France 1 Sol.
I see the date as 1771 but it is fuzzy.
It shows that all kinds of copper coins circulated in America then; another poster recently found a Portuguese 10 Reis 1734 coin.

I was thinking Virginia 1/2 penny too
But I will differ to better informed coin guys.
It does look like the 1771 French 1/2 sol.

I thought the bust was facing right, but with your history it would make sense if the date would be late 1800 century. Congrats on the nice find.
