Looks like branches or wings with a shield in the middle.

Hi; If I'm not mistaken. On the last picture there appears to be a cross set of lines. This makes me think it is Spanish. It is worn bad. Good Luck. PEACE:RONB

Not to divert the thread, but how would something like that be cleaned ?

Warm soapy water with a soft bristle tooth brush to gently brush. Or just a warm soapy water soak then rinse with water.

For a single coin I usually use 2oz of peroxide in a microwaveable glass for 1 minute on high. Drop the coin in the glass and let it go for about 5 minutes. Repeat the process until your happy with the result.
Another option is to use a ultrasonic cleaner with the peroxide heated up. Does a wonderful job.

Could it be a Reichsmark ?

Because you are relatively close to Mexico and the size of the coin is about that of a US quarter,I'm leaning towards a 1/4 real, copper, from the state of Chihuahua. The US quarter has a diameter of just over 24 mm. There were three varieties of the Mexican coin; one at 24mm and 2 at 26mm. The obverse legend of the '24' read: Departmento de Chihuahua. Another reads: Estado Libre de Chihuahua; and the third reads: Estado de Chihuahua. The reverse image was the value on two lines within a double wreath of palm branches (what is more clearly seen in your pics).
