copper lid with egyptian design

found this at a 1800's home site and have no idea as to what it might have been. found it about 4-5 inches down and it looks to be made of copper. its the same size as a can of skoal and the back is plain

On the "today's find" site I suggested custom tobacco snoose lid, but now seeing the hinge on the inside, it does look like a woman's compact, though most had a mirror inside. My have broken and fallen out.

I see a fish, some aquatic plants, lillies, lilly pads and cattails. Also a couple of birds, and a snake or wiggly above the fish. I dont see anything Egyptian.
