Copper slug?

I was at a swap meet yesterday and looked in a glass display case and saw what looked like a copper penny with nothing on it. I didn't ask to see the other side because no one was there to ask. If the back looked like a penny would it be worth something?

That is what is known as a blank planchet, it is a coin that did not get stamped. They are relatively common, but do command a little bit of a premium.
