Hello All,
Our club had the chance to hunt a local county park that was a Ft. during the Spanish American War. The park is off limits except for the beach area. We were given access to the area that had all of the buildings that were there at the time. (1898-1916) The items we find are turned in to the museum for their collection. All the foundations are marked out for the dozen or so buildings.
We have found 2 or 3 army buttons and building related items. But this piece has us bewildered. It is made of copper and there is a penny in the pix for reference. Would like to let the curator know something.
Thanks for your help,
Bunker

This is going to be a tough one. :help: I doubt it but the only wild guess I could think of is a GOP elephant or maybe its part of some kind of packaging tin from British India. :dontknow: The trunk is in an unusual position as if feeding or washing. :dontknow:

Just trying to get the ball rolling. Sometimes a bunch of wild guesses will lead to an answer.

You may be able to ID the elephant by that bump on its head. I remember reading something about it.

Google image searches show nearly all Indian elephants having small ears, and nearly all African elephants having large ears. Yours has small ears. Andi

Let us know if the curator solves it.
