Finished 90% of the area I wanted in 4 hours 15 minutes on my own. The whole site is about 3.5 acres, it seems to have a shift of focus from a site in the 1-2nd C AD to a neighbouring/touching site of the 3-4th C.

31 Roman Scrappies
1 Debased Roman Silver
Roman Plate (Disc) Brooch
Hod Hill 1st C Fibula
Colchester Derivative 2nd C - My first of this type & not in the books as far as I can see.
Roman Nail Cleaner

Depending on time I may return to finish off the edge of the site.

Fantastic finds!

Great finds man. Hopefully after a plow or plough in your terms you will be able to pull some more goodies out of there.

This is after the deep plough (these are rare now, only 1 in every 5 years if lucky). The last 3 years we cleared this site until now.

In southern Ohio I'm happy to see them just run a shallow disk on the fields. Most fields are now no-till, sometimes not hitting it with a disk for 10 years+. Just hope that doesn't take hold over there on your grain crop farmers. Would drive ya nuts.

Its catching on, they now drill Oil Seed Rape straight into wheat/oat/barley stubble.

Do the edges. Did you do the edges before? Find anything good?

The edges in my speak is the edges of the coin/finds spread (not the edge of the field although in some cases it can be the same). Yes, it has been done before, at least twice (but not after this deep plough, so will be some more scrappies). We always map out in every direction until the finds thin out & then run out. So the edges might only produce the odd coin.
