I went for a two hour hunt this morning to the cornfield I found the spur in, I found a pipe wrench and a tiny flat button that has a "Best Quality" backmark. After my afternoon nap I drove down the street to the "farm that nothing can be found" I forgot my phone when I went out on my second one hour hunt. (I hate when I get a good find and forgot my camera) and found another tiny flat button with a "ONU" on the backmark? ONU is a new one to me, I looked with the loop, it's the only marks I could see on front or back. Shortly after I had a nice signal and about five inches down this beauty popped out.

She has a partial hole drilled into her, not making it out of the reverse. Maybe they lost it trying to drill it?

Enjoy the pix

Congratualtions on the nice button and large cent!

Nice looking LC Brad

Sweet looking largie!!

Never seen someone dig a pipe wrench that big. Haha. That's pretty cool. The LC is killer man... Really nice patina on it. Awesome hunts Brad.

I don't think I've ever seen an 18" pipe wrench dug on here. Banner!!!!

That said, nice large cent. I think people had a lot of trouble boring through those. I've recovered several failed attempts of cutting and drilling (either with a nail or bit).

I must say I miss the usual sweatpants background though....

Don't those Jersey farmers use fertilizer? I can never get a nice LC like that one here. Congrats Brad.

That's a fantastic LC buddy! That one is worthy of the display case for sure. Great day

Awesome detail on the Large Cent! Nice hunt

All I know was it was iron and long, I actually was hoping to see a gun barrel, lol. She has been in my pocket all night, thanks.

I bet a few might of been dug but I'm the first to actually take a picture and carry that hunk of rusted iron out of a field, lol.
I was so bummed, I went for my phone before I dug it. I was going to video it, it was the best sounding thing I had heard in days. Then I was going to get a shot of it right out of the dirt and went for my phone again. There would have been a pic from the knee but the driveway was in the shade, I needed sunlight for a good pic.
Thanks bud.

This part of the farm is only planted in corn for the deer, and the soil here is almost like glass sand. It is not very often that I have pulled copper coins and can see a date right away. I think more than anything that makes for a huge victory for me. Usually I feel bummed as soon as I see the toast, today I was lucky. Best part is there is still acres left even in this part of the farm I still have not gone over with my coil!
Thanks Dave

Awesome large cent, congratulations.

Congrats on the LC and button Brad. :occasion14: I'm about due to uncover another LC soon. fingers crossed.

Nice LC. I dug an 1853 last week that had the same partial hole in it. Maybe the drills weren't so good back then and they just got tired and gave up!
