corpus christi texas please help

Gentlemen, brand new to this forum and need help. I am planing to take a trip to south Texas in Octber, and I really want to try my MXT out on the beach. But I have read through some of the other threads and I know you can't hunt on parts of Padre Island, my question is, is there is a good place close to there to hunt that is legal. Or is there a good resource to look up, or book I should research. thanks

I hunt in Galveston (Stewart Beach or East Beach) every once in a while...lots of detectorists there.

The county park at Bob Hall pier allows detecting. Just don't go beyond the markers onto national seashore. The last time I checked the shell beach behind the Lexington also allowed it.

I have detected South Padre Island with no problems.

Nobody else hunt corpus? How about a club contact down there or a shop for info? Please need more help don't want 5 o to take my gear.

Ok Snipe for what its worth, you can hunt any of the beaches that are public as long as they are not part of the National Seashore or a State Park. I have hunted the county park at Bob Hall pier, and the city park at Port Aransas, and many of the beaches on Mustang Island. I have been staying on the Island for the last 4 winters. Since the hurricane the beach gets covered with a lot of seaweed and they are constantly cleaning the beaches with roadgraders and trucks. This last year they were scraping the beaches clean. A lot of the sand was pushed into the surf which does you not good with your MXT. I met 4 other beach detectors and all did poorly. I feel you need to get into the water. Rob
