Need help,
I found this at a lil crappy beach that is open to the gulf, it was in the tide line at about mid tide, about 8" deep. Could see a little spot of golden color on it, in one spot. I cleaned it up a little at home to find more color, but stopped to not damage what little I had, lol.
I definitely have my doubts but can't help to think this could be real gold. It looks to have some other metal attached or bound to it, unless it is just encrusted with age. I always thought gold came up looking the way it went into the water?
This looks like it has been majorly corroded, which i thought gold didn't do. Could it have taken on the characteristics of iron if it was bound to it and corroded together? Maybe the sand just ground it down over the years? I have no idea what I'm looking at here...
