Could this be clay?

Found in Ohio. It feels very smooth and unlike most rocks I see, it has small cracks throughout it. The coloring throughout it is different as well - it has light tones and gray tones. It also has a lot of little marks around it I’m not sure if that’s pecking marks or natural. What do you guys think? Thanks for your help!

I would say clay hardened to rock. It is sedimentary in nature.

Looks like clay and natural ... I bet If dropped it would split apart into pieces

There might be fossils inside. If you are not too attached to it, bust it open and see

looks like a dried hunk of clay to me, and not an artifact. ancient compressed clay is shale, and compressed shale is slate...this looks like regular old, UNcompressed clay, in which case, if you wet it down and rub the surface, it should feel slick. In any case, it's a natural object IMHO.
