Cool looking rock under the frazil

Spotted along a riverbank that's been intermittently freezing up and thawing out at various points these past few weeks:

There's a St. John's River here in Florida, I don't think that's it.

Sure looks like it might have been something at one point, not sure there’s enough left to make a call now though. Still a cool looking rock.

From the picture, it looks like an axe that has deteriorated in layers.

I've seen this exact same process in upstate NY. In a creek that had variable flows during the year. Some rocks get stuck in the bottom and the sand and gravel passing by and at them eat away in what looks like layers.... sometimes they are layers of less dense stone.

Me thinks it is a natural rock that looks a whole lot like a hafted knife. I would have picked it up also.
